May 6th, 2003,
No particular place I have to be.
And I don't have much to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway
On this ordinary day.

The curtains are half drawn,
And I can see a bird on the lawn.
This room is fairly dim; just enough light comes streaming in,
On this ordinary day.
Cinco de Mayo was yesterday;
No hay celebracion ni un ole.
Does anyone even know what it's all about?
My wife she works late shift and then,
She'll be home by eleven, sometimes ten.
I watch my team get beat again in a rout,
On May 6th, 2003.

The clock is ticking on the wall;
There isn't any other sound at all,
As I read a book I probably won't get through.
I'm drifting in and out of sleep,
And dream of what I could not keep.
I'll wake up to a day that's new.

May 6th, 2003,
No particular place I have to be.
And I don't have much to say, as time slips away
On this ordinary day.
